1 CUP CHOPPED ONION
1 CUP SLICED CELERY
¼ CUP BUTTER OR MARGARINE
2 CUPS CHICKEN BROTH
1 TSP BAKING SODA
¼ CUP CORNSTARCH
¼ CUP WATER
1 ½ CUP SAUERKRAUT {RINSED AND DRAINED}
4 CUPS MILK
4 CUPS CHOPPED COOKED CORNED BEEF
2 CUPS SHREDDED SWISS CHEESE
SALT AND PEPPER
SAUTÉ ONIONS AND PUT IN CROCK POT
STIR IN BROTH AND BAKING SODA
COMBINE CORNSTARCH AND WATER AND ADD TO CROCK POT
STIR IN SAUERKRAUT, MILK AND CORNED BEEF.
COOK ON HIGH FOR 4-5 HOURS
STIR IN CHEESE AND COOK 30 MINUTES
SEASON WITH SALT AND PEPPER
GARNISH WITH RYE CROUTONS IF DESIRED.
